Jamshedpur: The anti-child marriage campaign launched by various child rights and social organizations concluded here on Sunday.
A function was organized on this occasion at Adarsh Seva Sansthan, Sonari.
The chief guest of the programme was DSP headquarters II Dr Kailash Karmali. He inaugurated the function by releasing balloons with the other guests and children. Balloons were also flown in several slums of Marine Drive by children.
The concluding day event was marked by an oath taken collectively by the members of the gathering against child marriage and violation of child rights.
Earlier, around 5000 people took the oath in a weeklong campaign on child rights and child marriage run by the local outfits across the city. The campaign was especially run in the 23 slums situated in Kadma and Sonari.
Many children participating in the campaign met the deputy commissioner (DC) of East Singhbhum earlier and appealed to people to call on the helpline number 1098 to help children in distress.
Among those present at the event included Usha Mahato, Lakhi Das, Juli Raut, Mahavir Mahato, Jujhar Soren, Sushma Sahu, Lakhi Pramanik, Bharat Bhushan, Vikram Jha, Harpal Singh Thapar, Pushpa Tirkey and Moushumi.
