Auction of sand ghats to be cancelled
Ranchi: Pressed by Opposition parties for taking prompt measures on auction of sand ghats, the state government today decided to hand over the responsibility of bandobasti of sand ghats across the state.
The decision in this regard by the state Cabinet in ameeting presided over by the Chief Minister HemanSoren.
The principal secretary of the Cabinet secretariat JB Tubid said the government had decided to cancel the auctionprocession for the bandobasti of sand ghats in the various districts.
He said the state governmentwillformulate a policy prior to the cancellation of the auction process. The companies participating the auction procession will be intimated about the reason behind the cancellation, he said.
During the meeting of the Cabinet, the state labour environment impact assessment authority was given the responsibility of fulfilling the requirements for getting environmental clearance for the necessary mining of sand and soil for brick kilns.
Tubid said the sand digging needed environmental clearance since it was a minor mineral. He said applications will have to be submitted for clearance for sand ghats.
The rates have been fixed for this purpose. From 2.5acreup to 50 acre of miningarea, the rate will be Rs 1lakh.
