Jhargram, Jan 4: The 12 hour road blockade called by Bharat Zakat Majhi Pargana Mahal (BZMPM) had widespread effect especially at the Jangal Mahal area as vehicular movement along the major highways and roads came to a standstill. However, vehicles under emergency services were kept out of the purview of the Bandh call. BZMPM supporters were seen dancing to traditional drum beats celebrating the success of the road blockade.

Prabir Murmu, All India General Secretary of Bharat Zakat Majhi Madwa Jawan Gauta (BZMMJG), speaking to this The Avenue Mail correspondent at the Jhargram Sharda Vidyapeeth blockade site said, “Many demands under The Right to Education were brought to the notice of the government but there was no response whatsoever to these important issues. If the government continues to remain passive on this score, then things will turn more sour and we will be forced to adopt a stronger mode of protest.” In Jhargram district, barricades were set up on important and busy road links along Sharda Vidyapeeth Morh, Parihati, Chilkigarh, Binpur, Silda, Chaka Doba, Gojashimool, Fenkoghat, Lalgarh, Ramgarh and Dahizhuri that completely stalled traffic movement.
