Buyers day out on Akshay Tritiya in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Akshay Tritiya, a Hindu festival that falls in the month of Vaisakha (April-May) and  considered an auspicious day for starting new ventures, making investments, and purchasing gold and other precious items, was celebrated today.

On Akshay Tritiya, people traditionally buy gold jewelry or gold coins as it is believed that buying gold on this day brings good fortune and prosperity. Many jewelry shops and markets offer special discounts and schemes to attract customers. Apart from gold, people also purchase other items such as clothes, electronics, and household goods.

Overall, Akshay Tritiya is a significant day for many Hindus and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor.

“Akshaya Tritiya is the most auspicious day according to the Hindu calendar. I will invest in gold this Akshaya Tritiya as gold always moves positively. It takes less space for storage. I prefer buying gold coins from banks as they provide imported gold coins long with certificate,” said Shashi Prakash, a buyer.

In diamonds too, the showrooms have launched a unique every day diamond collection for urban women. The collection is a fusion of white, yellow and pink gold and attractive enough to mesmerize the buyers.

“ This year with the economy booming and all industries are performing well, we are confident that consumers will stock up gold as an investment for Akshay Tritya despite the higher prices since the yellow metal is expected to either stabilise at this level or even rise further,” said Ravi Soni, a dealer of gold and diamond products. According to information the sales on Akshaya Tritiya is expected to be 10 times higher than that of a normal day.

Another show owner said that prices have remained firm since the past festive season which gives all the more confidence to consumer to go ahead with their gold purchases especially during Akshaya Tritiya festival.
