Bus for School on Wheels project flagged off to enroll kids in schools

Jamshedpur: A bus for School on Wheels project was flagged of on Wednesday by AB Lall, Head of Jamshedpur Plant, Tata Motors Limited, at General Office of the company.

The objective of the project is to motivate children from slums, bustees and streets to get enrolled in formal education spaces at the end of the program by developing in them an interest for learning and school.

The School on Wheels will be a fully equipped bus that will visit identified location and hold classes using fun, innovative teaching methodologies to urge these children to begin their learning journey. It aims to give them their first experience of formal learning. The project attempts to take education to Out-of-School children who dwell on the very fringes of society.

The project basically aims to enable the learner to develop an interest for learning and formal schooling in the target group, to ensure basic learning in Language, Mathís and General science to enable them to come to school entry levels, to develop and integrate the use of four language skills i.e. reading, listening, speaking, writing and to enhance the ability to handle casual and formal situations in terms of basic grooming, hygiene and etiquettes, organizers said.

The project is sponsored by TML Drivelines and will be implemented by Shiksha Prasar Kendra and People for Change, an NGO which works towards enriching children and youth for personal and social development through creating self to society journeys and citizenship action projects.

Sampath Morri, CEO TML Drivelines, was also present to flag off the School Bus. Bharati Lall and members of Manasi Club were also present to grace the occasion. Ravi Singh, Ranjit Dhar, Gurvinder Ahuja, Deepak Kumar and other senior executives of Tata Motors and TML Drivelines graced the occasion by their presence and witnessed the flagging off of the school bus.
