Jamshedpur, Feb. 17: The police have arrested culprit involved in murder of Ajit Nandi alias Bodra at Ruia Pahard area under Burmamines.
The accused was identified as Pankaj Sau alias Bhatija. The incident took place on Thursday. The incident took place in the evening when the victim was reportedly drinking at Burmamines with his friends.
City DSP Animesh Naithany said that a police team involved in investigation nabbed the accused. The police have recovered country made pistol and six live cartridges.
City DSP informed that the team of eight police officers including Jamshedpur City SP, Golmuri Police Station in-charge Arun Kumar Mahatha, Telco Police Station in-charge Jayant Tirkey, Burmamines Police Station in-charge Jagdev Singh, Birsanagar Police Station in-charge Uttam Tiwary, Govindpur Police Station in-charge Rajesh Ranjan, Burmamines Police Station officers Ashok Kumar Pathak and Pramod Paswan.
He said that the accused had called the victim over the phone for meeting at 4.45 pm and when he didn’t returned till 8.30 pm his sister Mamta Nandi trying to look for Ajit reached Bhakti Nagar and when she reached near the house of Durga Devi she found that Pankaj Shah was fighting with her brother Ajit Nandi and soon Pankaj took out a pistol and shot him dead.
An FIR was filed at Burmamines police station in this regard. The victim sustained critical injuries. He died on his way to the hospital.
