Burglars struck three houses at Mango, valuables stolen

Jamshedpur, May 4: Burglars struck at three houses at Samta Nagar in Mango in the wee today and fled with ornaments and other valuables.

The burglars chose the houses which were under lock and key as members of all the three families are away to their native places in Bihar. The houses belonged to Vinod Gupta, LalanTiwary and Jogeswar Shah. The families are away to Bijhar since April 28. While Tiwary works in a private company, both Gupta and Shah run eateries at the Mango market.

A neighbour of Tiwary’shouse said as they were passing from the stretch at 6.30 am, he found the lock on the front door of his neighbour was broken. He said the criminals have broken the almirah of all the three houses and valuables, including ornaments were found missing from the shelves.

Thakur said they also informed the owners of the three burgled houses immediately and all the three families. He said they were told that they are rushing back to Jamshedpur by boarding trains. The loss of properties is yet to be estimated as the house owners concerned are still out of the city.

OC, BudhramOraon confirmed about the serial burglaries at Samta Nagar in the wee hours today. “We visited the places of burglaries. But there was not any formal complanaint as owner of the all the three houses were away,” said Oraon, adding that they will try to nab the burglars once complaints are lodged.

Agitated residents lodged a complaint to Saryu Roy, the local legislator who later visited the houses where the serial burglaries took place. Roy who is also state food and civil supplies minister said, ” The police should intensify patrolling in the locality in order to stop recurrence of such incidents. ”

Taking a serious note of the spurt in incidents of thefts in the city, the police have started special police patrolling system during night in the Steel City. A search drive is also being conducted at several parts of the city.

Officials said that constables on foot would be deployed in a stretch of every one km for patrolling. Several other constables would be deployed for the purpose, besides patrolling by the local police.

“Burglaries have increased during the winter as many families are away on vacation. Specially constituted patrolling squads have already been deployed under the limits of the Mango and Sakchi,” said police official.
