Burglars loot jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur : In a shocking theft in Azad Basti, Road No. 17 under Azadnagar Police Station, miscreants broke into a locked house on Monday night and decamped with jewellery worth approximately Rs 4 lakh and cash of about Rs 1 lakh. The crime came to light on Tuesday morning when a neighbour informed the homeowner. The woman, who had been staying at her maternal home in Dhatkidih, had last visited the house on Sunday and found everything intact. Upon returning Tuesday, she found the outer lock seemingly untouched but discovered that the inner locks had been broken and valuables stolen. A signed cheque was also reported missing. A formal complaint has been lodged, and police have initiated an investigation.
