Burglar held with Rs 15 lakh jewellery, cash in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Telco police arrested a habitual burglar involved in a major house theft carried out on intervening night of May 26/27 in the Telco police station area.
The accused had allegedly broken into a locked house by cutting the lock and decamped with valuables.
Police recovered stolen gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 15 lakh, cash amounting to Rs 58,130, the lock-cutting machine used in the crime, and other incriminating materials from his possession.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to carrying out similar thefts in the Bistupur, Sitaramdera, Bagbera and Telco police station areas by targeting locked houses. Police said the accused has a prior criminal record and further investigation is underway.
