Bullet rani, paramour and friend gets  lifer in Telco land trader murder 

Jamshedpur, January 29: On Saturday, Jamshedpur Court gave life term to wife, her paramour and paramour’s friend in the murder case of land trader Tapan Das at Shamsher Residency in Kharangajhar, Telco.

The court of ADJ-4 Rajendra Kumar Sinha convicted Shweta Das wife of the murder victim who was known as bullet queen for her fondness of bullet (two-wheelers) under sections 302 and 201 of murder and concealment of evidence along with her lover Sidgora resident Sumit Singh and companion Sonu Lal and awarded them life imprisonment.

The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 5000 to all under section 302 and Rs 2000 in section 201. Failure to pay the fine will result in additional punishment. The court had convicted everyone in this case on January 27 itself. A letter has been written to DLSA to take care of Tapan Das’s 9-year-old daughter.

 In this case, apart from the then ASP Kumar Gaurav, 10 people had testified. On December 17, 2021, the statement of the three accused was recorded in the court through video conferencing. In this, all the three accused had declared themselves innocent. Shweta Das alias Bullet Rani is lodged in Hazaribagh Jail, while Sumit Singh is lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail  in Ranchi and Sonu Lal Bokaro Jail.

Defence advocate Virendra Singh said that he will appeal in the Jharkhand High Court regarding this decision. Significantly, on 12 January 2018, Tapan Das, a resident of Shamsher Residency and a land trader, was murdered. The criminals kept the body in the refrigerator and threw it in the bush of Barabanki under MGM police station area on January 13 from an autorickshaw.

 After the body was recovered, wife Shweta Das had lodged a case against unknown in MGM police station. Police investigation revealed that wife Shweta Das had killed Tapan Das with the help of her lover Sumit Singh. After the murder, with the help of his friend Sonu Lal, the body was kept in the fridge and thrown in the Barabanki forest.

After seeing the CCTV footage of Shamsher Tower, the police arrested the three accused. The police had also confiscated the autorickshaw which was used to throw the dead body. Shweta was fond of riding bullets. She was also fond of weapons. Many times she was seen traveling in the area riding on a bullet with a weapon. Therefore, the people of the area had named her Bullet Rani.
