Build towns that inspire awe even after 100 years: CM

Ranchi, July 31: Reviewing the Ranchi Smart City format at the Project Building, Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said that towns should be planned in such a manner that even after 100 years, its planner is remembered.

He said that Ranchi should be developed as a �Green Smart City� in view of its unique geography and eco system. Landscapes and open space should be in abundance. Electricity, water, sewerage and drainage should be according to the requirement. He also said that the underground electric cabling and other amenities should be standard.

�Special architecture should be used in building schools, educational institutions, hospital, park and residential premises. The city with its natural and architectural beauty and decency should attract tourists in an unparallel way. At the same time, residents of the town should be contented and proud of the urban amenities,� he said.

Also present on the occasion, Urban Development Secretary Arun Kumar Singh said that 20 % of the proposed smart city, around 656 acres in area, will be reserved for educational and skill development centres. �Around 13 % of the area will be reserved for housing purposes and 10 % for commercial activities. A separate cycle track and wide scale use of solar energy will be some of the attractions.

Cycle stations are being made at 122 places on an average distance of 300 meters. In the first phase, 1264 cycles will be provided at cycle stations and all cycles will be attached with GPS. It will help servicemen and students and decrease pollution,� he said.

Urban Development Minister CP Singh, CS Raj Bala Verma, Additional CS Amit Khare, Principal Secretary to the CM Sanjay Kumar, IT Secretary Satyendra Singh, Energy Secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni, Revenue Secretary KK Soan and Industry Secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal were present at the meeting.
