Jamshedpur, Aug 18: State food and civil supplies minister Saryu Roy Sunday said the East Singhbhum district administration should ensure that no house is demolished during the construction of road on the banks of Kharkai river in Shastrinagar, Kadma.
Addressing a meeting of senior officials from the state water resources department, Swarnarekha Multi-purpose Project and the state road construction department at his Bistupur residence, Roy said every effort should be made to keep the 45 houses situated alongside the road intact.
Roy said there was nothing wrong with road construction and beautification of the riverbank, but any such development should not take place at the cost of houses belonging to poor families. He said a well-coordinated work plan should be prepared before beginning implementation of any development project. He said such projects may become useless in want of proper planning.
