Jamshedpur, Feb 7: Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram on Saturday described the Union Budget 2026 as a “Reform Express,” saying it sets a clear direction for economic reforms and accelerates development in Jharkhand and across the country. Addressing a press conference at a hotel in Bistupur, Oram said the budget presented by Finance Minister is practical, growth-oriented, and free from populist promises.

The Union Minister said the budget focuses on ease of living, ease of doing business, job creation, and increased production. He added that the government has ensured economic stability and continuous development so that the country progresses without facing recessionary risks. Special emphasis has been placed on empowering youth, women, the poor, the underprivileged, and the tribal community.

Oram said Union Ministers and senior leaders have visited nearly 150 cities nationwide to explain the budget to the public, and he was pleased to share its key features in Jamshedpur. Referring to the historic and industrial connection between Jamshedpur and Rourkela, he said the region plays a crucial role in strengthening India’s manufacturing base.

Highlighting major provisions, the minister said the central government considers semiconductors a game-changer and has allocated ₹40,000 crore over the next five years for semiconductor manufacturing. In addition, ₹10,000 crore has been earmarked for the bio-pharma and medicine sectors. These investments, he said, will significantly strengthen the defence, technology, and healthcare sectors.

 

Industry, MSMEs, and Infrastructure to Gain Momentum

Union Minister Oram said industrial cities like Jamshedpur will benefit substantially from the Union Budget 2026. He informed that ₹10,000 crore has been allocated for the manufacturing sector, ₹10,000 crore for the MSME Growth Fund, and ₹20,000 crore for micro-enterprises.

He said the budget promotes integrated processing zones for the textile sector, high-tech tool rooms, and mineral processing units. Along with industrial growth, the budget also focuses on the development of small towns through better traffic management, improved electricity supply, enhanced internet connectivity, and stronger urban infrastructure.

 

Special Announcements Give Big Boost to Jharkhand

Union Minister Juel Oram said Jharkhand has received more than ₹4.18 lakh crore in financial assistance from the central government over the past 12 years. For the financial year 2026–27, the state will receive ₹51,236 crore through tax devolution, while grants for 2025–26 stand at ₹17,057 crore. The railway sector has been allocated over ₹17,600 crore.

He said Jharkhand now has seven Vande Bharat trains and 57 Amrit Bharat stations, including major stations such as Tatanagar, Ghatshila, and Chaibasa. In the road and transport sector, 3,633 km of national highways have been constructed. Key projects include the Ranchi–Kolkata Greenfield Corridor and a proposed 1,000-km highway network at an estimated cost of ₹30,575 crore.

Oram added that Deoghar and Jamshedpur airports are operational, while Ranchi airport has been included under the Krishi Udan scheme. Eco-tourism circuits covering Dalma–Betla and Netarhat will be developed, and Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar will be upgraded as a major tourist destination. In the education and health sectors, 85 Kendriya Vidyalayas have been sanctioned across the country, including two in Jharkhand. Medical colleges have been approved in Dumka, Hazaribagh, Palamu, Koderma, and Chaibasa, while AIIMS Deoghar is already operational.

 

Tribal and Social Welfare Schemes Expanded

The Union Minister said ₹79,000 crore has been allocated for the PM Janman and Dharti Aaba Tribal Village Upliftment Scheme, which will benefit thousands of tribal villages in Jharkhand. He also highlighted the impact of central welfare schemes in the state, including 2.02 crore Jan Dhan accounts, 1.35 crore Ayushman Bharat cards, 38.9 lakh Ujjwala gas connections, tap water connections to 34.4 lakh households, and food security for 2.64 crore beneficiaries under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.

 

Budget Brings New Opportunities for Jharkhand: MP Bidyut Mahato

Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato said the Union Budget 2026–27 strengthens the resolve for a developed India and offers unprecedented opportunities for Jharkhand. He said the budget provides a new direction to industry, infrastructure, employment, and social empowerment in the state.

Mahato said the focus on manufacturing, MSMEs, semiconductors, infrastructure, and skill development will be highly beneficial for Jharkhand’s industrial sector, especially cities like Jamshedpur. He added that the expansion of health, education, tribal welfare, and poverty alleviation schemes will ensure inclusive development and employment opportunities for local youth.

Women’s Empowerment Central to Budget: Purnima Sahu

Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Sahu said the Union Budget 2026 places strong emphasis on women’s empowerment and self-reliance. She said platforms like SheMart will provide new markets for women entrepreneurs, while loan procedures for women linked to MSMEs and self-help groups will be simplified.

She welcomed the ₹10,000 crore allocation for the bio-pharma sector and steps to make medicines for serious diseases more affordable. Sahu also praised provisions for working women’s hostels, crèches, and girls’ hostels, saying these measures will ensure a safer environment for women and female students. She added that schemes such as Lakhpati Didi, along with skill development and digital literacy initiatives, will economically empower women across the country.
