President Droupadi Murmu to Lay Foundation of ₹100 Crore Jagannath Temple in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Authorities have stepped up preparations at Marine Drive in Kadma ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit on February 26, when she will lay the foundation stone of a ₹100 crore Shri Jagannath Temple project.

Organisers have put up seating enclosures, installed barricades and arranged multi-layered security in view of the expected crowd.

₹100 Crore Temple on 2.5 Acres

The Shri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Charitable Centre is developing the temple complex on nearly 2.5 acres along Marine Drive. The main temple will cover 1.5 acres, while one acre has been earmarked for a spiritual and cultural centre.

S.K. Behera, Chairman of the Trust and Managing Director of RSB Group, said the temple design draws inspiration from the historic Jagannath Temple, Puri. The sanctum will house idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, along with other deities.

Officials expect to complete the temple within four years. The cultural centre is likely to be ready in two years. The complex is expected to become a major religious and cultural landmark in Jamshedpur.

Focus on Youth Development

The trust plans to use the cultural centre to promote value-based education and personality development among youth. Programmes will draw from teachings of scriptures such as the Bhagavad Gita.

Students from institutions within a 200–250 km radius will be invited to attend workshops on discipline, morality and self-confidence.

Dignitaries to Attend

President Murmu is scheduled to arrive at 12:20 pm and depart around 1:20 pm after addressing the gathering.

Governor Santosh Gangwar, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Chief Minister Hemant Soren are also expected to attend the ceremony.
