Book honouring Urdu writer Manzar Kaleem released in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: A literary programme celebrating the life and works of renowned Urdu litterateur Manzar Kaleem was held last evening at the Community Centre, Dhatkidih. The event was organised jointly by Urban Services, Tata Steel, and the literary organisation Urdu Bhawan.

The programme was presided over by Keshav Ranjan, Head of Urban Services, Tata Steel, while Dr. Mohammad Zakaria, Director of Education at Karimia Trust, graced the occasion as chief guest. Noted storyteller Jayanandan, Dr. Mohammad Reyaz, Principal of Karim City College, and writer Dr. Akhtar Azad were present as guests of honour.

During the ceremony, the book “Manzar Kaleem: Fan aur Shariqiyat,” edited by Dr. Akhtar Azad, was formally released. Scholars and guests then shared their reflections on Manzar Kaleem’s literary contributions and his inspiring personality.

Earlier, Dr. Mohammad Ghalib Nashtar from J.N. College, Ranchi, was presented the Manzar Kaleem Award for excellence in Urdu literary criticism.

Welcoming the dignitaries and literature enthusiasts, Dr. Hasan Imam Malik, Chairman of Urdu Bhawan and Sports Manager at Tata Steel, expressed gratitude for the collective effort in honouring Urdu literature.

In his presidential address, Keshav Ranjan remarked, “Tata Steel Foundation has always contributed towards the preservation and development of literature and culture. I am happy that today we remembered an Urdu writer and paid tribute to his legacy.”

Late Manzar Kaleem’s wife was also present at the programme and was honoured with a bouquet and a shawl as a gesture of respect.

The event was anchored by Dr. S.M. Yahya Ibrahim, Head of the English Department at Karim City College, while Mr. Birdhan Marandi delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was convened by Abhishek Kashyap, Manager, Urban Services, Tata Steel.
