Jamshedpur: A major investment scam has surfaced in the Sakchi police station area of Jamshedpur, involving the alleged misuse of Bollywood celebrities’ names to lure investors. Following court orders, a case has been registered against several individuals and a private firm for defrauding citizens of lakhs of rupees.
The Allegation: ₹8 Lakh Fraud
The complainants, Jaspal Singh, a resident of Bistupur, and Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Telco Colony, filed a complaint at the Sakchi police station alleging they were cheated of ₹8 lakh by a company named Maxigen Touch Private Limited. Between December 2021 and February 2022, the victims invested the amount in multiple installments after being promised high returns. However, the company failed to return the profits and the principal amount.
Involvement of Celebrity Faces
The victims stated that they trusted the company because its promotional materials prominently featured famous Bollywood actors, including:
- Govinda
- Chunky Pandey
- Manoj Tiwari
- Raza Murad
- Shakti Kapoor
The presence of these celebrities in the company’s advertisements led investors to believe the venture was legitimate, prompting them to invest their hard-earned savings.
Accused Directors and Recent Arrests
The case names the company’s Director, Chandrabhushan Singh, his wife and co-director Priyanka Singh, and the Jamshedpur branch representative Surya Narayan Patro.
In a significant development, the Director couple has already been arrested by the police. They were apprehended from the Rajdhani Express in Dhanbad and are currently in judicial custody.
Ongoing Investigation
Sakchi police have initiated a thorough investigation into the company’s documents, bank accounts, and investment records. This is not the first instance of fraud linked to this firm; several other investors have previously filed cases alleging the misappropriation of crores of rupees.
Police officials have urged the public to be cautious and perform due diligence before investing in any schemes, warning that the mere involvement of famous personalities in advertisements does not guarantee the safety of an investment.
