Chakradharpur Apr 17: The recovery of a body at the AC coach of South Bihar Express train in Chakradharpur station created flutter among railway authorities on Saturday and also exposed railway preparation for handling Covid patients.
The passenger identified as Tathagath Chatterjee was travelling from Asansol to Bilaspur on the train and after the passengers did not find any sense in the passenger they informed the railway medical team but the team reached the coach almost an hour later and declared the passenger as dead and this creation anxiety among co-passengers as railway emptied the coach fearing the death due to Covid.
The deceased passenger was a native of Bilaspur and was returning after a work at Asansol accompanied by his friend Anand Batra and on Saturday morning the ticket examiner attempted to wake up the deceased passenger to check ticket but when there was no response and the person did not open his eyes the ticket examiner informed the medical team.
According to Anand Batra nobody even came to touch his friend and the medical team arrived almost an hour later at Chakradharpur Station and declared him dead. Thereafter the operating department staff entered the coach and brought the dead body of the passenger out of the train and handed it over to GRP. Thereafter the entire coach was sanitized and allowed to go for its destination.
Passengers were anxious as they were linking the death to Covid-19 and raised question mark on the available of doctor for any emergency at the Chakradharpur station which is one of the divisional headquarter of South Eastern Railway.
Though the exact reason of death could be known only after post mortem report from the Chakradharpur sub-divisional hospital where the body had autopsy after Covid test. The body was sent to Bilaspur on hearse van.
