Jamshedpur, March 11: Bagbera police here on Friday arrested one Deepa Mohanty for allegedly throttling her husband, Raju Mohanty, 40, and her father-in-law Sushil Mohanty, 70, with the help of her paramour-cum-tenant, Jitendra.

Police recovered the bodies of the father and son from their house in Gandhinagar Basti under Bagbera police station area this morning.
The SSP M Tamil Vanan said the accused persons were in a relationship and that they killed Raju and his father late evening in the Mohantys’ kitchen. The suspicious activities of the accused persons led the investigators to interrogate them and find out the truth, he said. The bodies were lying on a bed when recovered, sources said.

Police suspected foul play in the twin deaths shortly after recovering the bodies. Raju’s body bore injury marks which pointed at homicide.
Later, the bodies were sent to MGM Hospital for postmortem examination.
Sources said the mysterious deaths transpired in the morning when the father and son duo did not wake up in the morning. When Raju’s wife went to wake them up, she found them lying down still and quite. Sensing it to be unusual, she soon informed other family members and neighbours about the incident.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), East Singhbhum, M Tamil Vanan, visited the crime scene and led police investigation. He also questioned Deepa and Jitendra in connection with the incident. A forensic team also collected evidence from the crime scene.
Deepa had earlier reportedly told cops her husband had consumed alcohol last night. She said her father-in-law was not keeping well for the last four days.
