BNMH performs first ORIF mandibular surgery successfully

Jamshedpur: First successful ORIF mandibular surgery has been done by highly skilled maxilla facial surgeon Dr. Siddartha Chakraborty. Nishant Horo, 16, was doing bike racing & bike stunt in the marine drive road. During that event he got accident & badly injured. He had severe facial injury & fracture of upper limb. His face was severely damaged & deformed. He was unable to talk, Chew & eat totally. Nishant came to Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital (BNMH) emergency & got admitted under Dr. Rajiv Maharshi (Neurosurgeon) in the department of Neurosurgery.

After examining the medical condition, he was referred to department of cosmetic surgery under Dr. Siddhartha Chakraborty. His CT showed multiple mandible fractures which has to be surgically corrected. Dr. Siddhartha discussed the case with Dr. Umesh Prasad (HOD, Anesthesia department) & decided to operate. Dr. Umesh Prasad (HOD, Anaesthesia department) said that surgery needs specialized equipment i.e. North pole Endotracheal Tube which will be used for better results in Maxillo Facial Surgery. Dr. Chakraborty said that surgery took 3 hours & his facial deformity was corrected by using skin from inside the mouth not from face. Surgery was done beautifully to avoid any of the scars. Now patient is stable in condition & doing well.
