Blood donation a means to unite society: DC Amit Kumar

1024 units of blood collected at Red Cross Day mega camp in Sakchi

Jamshedpur: Blood donation is a powerful means to unite the society and save the lives of distressed individuals. It not only saves lives, but also saves many families and their future. This was observed on Tuesday by Amit Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, East Singhbhum, on the occasion of inauguration of a mega blood donation camp held at Red Cross Building in Sakchi on the occasion of World Red Cross Day.

After inaugurating the camp as the chief guest, the DC said all individuals should take a pledge to donate blood in order to save the lives of other individuals. During emergency medical situations, there is no alternative of blood, he said.

During today�s camp, a total of 1024 units of blood were collected. The DC too, donated blood along with other district administration officials with the view to motivate other donors. He was accompanied by SDO Madhvi Mishra, Blood Bank secretary Nalini Rammurthy and other dignitaries of the city.

Red Cross officials said a supplementary blood camp would be held on 10th February for those individuals who could not donate blood at today�s camp.
