Geeta Koda files paper from Singhbhum

Jamshedpur: It was a day of heavyweight candidates to file their nominations. Candidates of BJP and Congress filed their candidature for Jamshedpur and Singhbhum parliamentary seats respectively on Saturday. BJP candidate from Jamshedpur and sitting MP Bidyut Baran Mahto took out a grand rally from a ground near Motilal Nehru Public School to file nomination at returning officer�s office.

All the senior leaders of BJP including Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy, AJSU chief Sudesh Mahto, AJSU MLA Ramchandra Sahis accompanied Mahto in the rally, before filing of the nomination.

The leaders� went to DC-cum-returning officer Amit Kumar�� chamber� for filing nomination papers in an open jeep. Mahto submitted his papers in the presence of CM and others leaders

In 2014 Bidyut Baran Mahto had defeated his arch rival sitting JVM MP Dr Ajoy Kumar to clinch Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat in style. The BJP candidate registered his debut in Parliament by defeating Kumar by a margin of 99874 votes.�

Mahto received 464144 votes while Ajoy Kumar received 364270 votes. JMM candidate Niroop Mahanty stood third with 13109 votes.

Addressing media, Mahto said that during his term as MP he did his best to ensure development and progress. His priority is development of villages, promoting irrigation and promotion of industry. He pointed out he would go to the voters on the manifesto of bringing about development.

Meanwhile, Mahagathbandhan candidate Geeta Koda, who is also a legislator from Jagannathpur assembly constituency in West Singhbhum filed nomination for Singhbhum seat at Chaibasa. State Congress president Dr Ajoy Kumar was present on the occasion.

Wife of former chief minister Madhu Koda, Geeta (35) had successfully contested the 2009 assembly elections on the ticket of Jai Bharat Samanta Party from Jagannathpur.�

She retained her legislature post of the Jagannathpur assembly seat in November 2014 also on the ticket of Jai Bharat Samanta Party. Incidentally, Geeta joined Congress earlier this year.
In 2014, BJP candidate from Singhbhum seat Laxan Gilua had defeated his rival and Jai Bharat Samanta Party (JBSP) candidate Geeta Koda by a margin of 87476 votes.
