BJP youth wing activists demand extension of summer vacation

Jamshedpur : Activists of BJP youth wing led by state secretary Kulwant Singh Bunty on Friday staged demonstration in front of the district collectorate and demanded of extension of summer vacations for the high school students too.

Concerned over the heat wave conditions prevailing in the city, English medium schools decided to declared extension of summer vacation. Association of Jharkhand Unaided Private Educational Institutions has decided to extend holidays for from nursery to class 5 till June 22. The schools will reopen on June 23. While, for the students of class 6 and above classes will run from 6: 30 am to 10:30 am.

The school authorities said that they have no choice but to extend holidays. The classes in the primary section of all schools, both English and Hindi medium, will resume on revised dates. However, for the higher classes the schools will resume according to original schedule on June 16.

The BJP delegation submitted a memorandum addressed to East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amitabh Kaushal and East Singhbhum district superintendent of education Indu Bhusan Singh threatening to take to street if higher school students are allowed to attend classes from June 16.

East Singhbhum district superintendent of education, Indu Bhusan Singh said that they would discuss the issue with deputy commissioner keeping all things in perspective.

Meanwhile, curfew-like situation prevails in the city during the day as the denizens stayed indoors till the evening due to the sweltering heat. Heat waves and sultry weather scare vehicle riders and pedestrians, and it resulted in roads wearing a deserted look during the day.

Passengers and commuters have been worst hit with hot winds blowing during the day. While the elderly have been staying indoors, those who are being forced to step out for official or personal work are taking adequate precautions.
