BJP Jamshedpur pays tribute to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his 120th birth anniv

Jamshedpur, July 6: BJP Jamshedpur Mahanagar on Tuesday (July 6) paid tribute to Bharatiya Jan Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his 120th birth anniversary at the party office in Sakchi. National Vice President of BJP and former Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Jamshedpur MP Bidhut Baran Mahato, former MLA Menka Sardar along with BJP district president Gunjan Yadav were present. Party leaders paid floral tributes to the portrait of Dr Mookerjee. BJP district general secretary Rakesh Singh, general secretary Anil Modi and other party workers were present. Tributes were also paid to Dr Mookerjee at all the 28 units of BJP Jamshedpur Mahanagar. At the programs held under the guidance of BJP unit presidents, all the party workers planted saplings and pledged to conserve it.

Syama Prasad Mookerjee was born on July 6, 1901, in Calcutta. Dr. Mookerjee devoted his life towards India’s unity and progress. He also distinguished himself as a remarkable scholar and intellectual. He was the Minister for Industry and Supply in Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s cabinet but he later resigned from the Nehru cabinet. With the help of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), he founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the predecessor to the Bharatiya Janata Party, in 1951.
