Jamshedpur : The BJP today expressed apprehensions over fair and free assembly elections in East Singhbhum.
Saryu Roy, senior leader and BJP candidate from Jamshedpur West, said at a press meet in Sakchi that he has decided to submit a list of criminals to the district administration who are threatening his supporters of not campaigning in certain pockets of the constituency, especially Mango.
He said the administration should ensure safety of BJP workers and take action against such elements.The administration should assure an impartial election,� Roy said.
Raghubar Das, party national president and candidate from Jamshedpur East, said he condemns the recent incidents involving Congress supporters in the poll-bound East Singhbhum. �The administration must takento stop such incidents,� he added.
He said that police to take necessary action against those who indulged in the fight during a live interactive session of leading candidates in fray for the Jamshedpur West assembly constituency at the Sir Dorabji Tata Park in Bistupur.
Members of BJP and Congress had clashed between themselves during the live interactive session organised by a private TV channel at the Dorabji Tata Park in Bistupur late last evening.
At the session, the BJP’s Jamshedpur West candidate Saryu Roy, Jharkhand MuktiMorcha’s Upendra Singh and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha’s Jamshedpur East candidate Abhay Singh were at the dais with the anchor of the private TV channel conducting the question answer session. The programme was going on peacefully.
But as Gupta arrived at the venue along with his supporters, the latters started shouting slogans in favour of the Congress candidates, triggering a reaction from the BJP supporters. SaryuRoy, said that he would write to the election commission and seek action.
