Jamshedpur : BJP celebrated its Foundation Day today at Jugsalai. In this connection functions were held across the city by the party.

According to a BJP handout the flag hoisting ceremony was held at booth and Mandal levels across the district. BJP district president Nandji Prasad hoisted the party flag in presence of senior party leaders.

While congratulating the party activists on the occasion, he spoke about the circumstances that led to formation of BJP. He said the BJP achieved the distinction of being the only political party at national level to become main Opposition party in such a short span of time after it came into being April 6, 1980.

He asked the party activists to take a solemn pledge on this day to reach the masses with the ideology and principles of the party to mobilize their opinion in its favour. Anil Modi said the BJP is party with difference and it will not allow the implementation of anti national policies.

He said BJP was founded after question marks were raised against dual membership of its senior leaders who were at that time Ministers in Janata Party Government and senior leaders including Atal Behari Vajpayee, L K Advani decided to quit their ministerial berths and the Janata party insisted of giving up their membership of the National Sangathan or RSS.

He said soon after its formation BJP worked with a missionary zeal to make India Jagat Guru. The leaders urged party workers to redouble their efforts to ensure good governance and transparency.
