BJP activists stop park construction work in Golmuri

Jamshedpur: Bharatiya Janata Party activists and local residents disrupted the ongoing construction work at Kavali Maidan in Golmuri on Tuesday. They protested the construction of a park on the said ground by Tinplate Company while demanding the construction of a club house on the said plot.

Leading the agitation, former district vice president of BJP Appa Rao, said, We have long been demanding the construction of a cultural building on the said ground. There is no suitable place for social, cultural and religious activities in the locality. The local residents have raised this demand many a times but no action has been taken so far in this regard, said Rao.

The BJP leaders claimed that Chief Minister Raghubar Das had asked the authorities concerned to ensure that the needs and demands of local residents should be given due priority while expanding or renovating the said ground.

Sources said the chief security officer of the company JP Singh and Public Relations Department officer Uday Pratap Singh reportedly assured to hold a meeting with the protestors on 2nd March to resolve the issue. The assurance led the BJP workers to call off the agitation.

Among those present on the occasion included Bunty Agrawal, Manjit Singh, Kulvant Singh, Kapil Kumar, Rajesh Singh, Chhinde Singh, Laxman Behra and Santosh Rao.
