BJP activists gherao Tata Motors plant head�s residence, dump garbage

Jamshedpur: BJP activists led by Jitendra Rai, president of Ghodabandha unit of BJP on Saturday dumped cow dung and garbage at the entrance of residence of Tata Motor�s plant head A B Lal in protest against company�s failure to provide civic amenities at the basti areas situated near the plant. The activists gheraoed the residence in protest.

BJP activists along with district councilor Ganesh Solanki spilled the garbage at the gate that included cow dung at the Nildih located residence of the plant head. The walls of the residence were spoiled with cow dung.

�We had given an ultimatum to the company to provide civic amenities to the bastis located near the plant but the company failed to take any action. The welfare of the people is our priority and we will fight for it,� said Jitendra Rai.

Meanwhile, though the local police reached the spot but it was late and the activists had spilled the garbage before. Leading the demonstration Rai said that they were forced to take such an agitation for the benefit of nearly slum dwellers after Tata Motors officials failed to heed to their demands.

�Though we had given memorandums over the issues of providing power and drinking water to the slum dwellers but nothing has been done so far.

Unfortunately, nothing happened forcing us to take up agitation,� said the agitator.

Another senior leader said that people of fringe areas are reeling under water crisis these days. For them drinking water is a problem of enormous proportions.

The water level at hand pumps have gone down significantly. These settlements are remotely located due to which people have to bring water to a distance of about 2 km, which is a major concern.

Jusco should supply water every day.
