Jamshedpur: In protest against the rising cases of attacks on the traders a delegation of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) met the senior superintendent of police Richard Lakra and sought safety for the members of the community.

On Sunday a gang of two bike-born criminals looted about Rs 4 lakh at gun point at Sundernagar police station from traders, Umesh Agrawal and Kanhaiya Prasad Nagelia who are residents of Bistupur and have shops at Parsudih-based Krishi Bazaar Samity.

The traders’ body also expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the steel city.

Led by the SCCI president Suresh Sonthalia met the senior SP Richard Lakra and pointed out that despite claims by the district police for beefing up the policing in and around the city, the traders community continued to fall victim to the criminals.

Our city is gripped with criminal activities. We condemn the attack on innocent people in past one month or so. We have gathered here today to express out anger against the police administration,” said Sonthalia.

It is surprising several cases of murder and attempt to murder incidents have taken place recently and that too in the broad daylight. It is high time to increases extra vigil, said Bharat Vasani, a senior official of SCCI.

It may be mentioned that figures show a substantial increase in the number of murders, thefts and robberies taking place across the city from past one month.

Meanwhile, Lakra claimed that they have already identified one of the two criminals involved in the loot.

Moreover, the senior SP claimed to have decided to start patrolling of the Hata-Tata road and also some other roads that links to Jamshedpur in view of preventing such incident in future.

Nonetheless the rising cases of crime in the city have forced the business community to raise voice against the detracting law and order situation for additional security arrangements. Vijay Anand Moonka, Sharwan Kabra, Nitesh Dhoot
