Ranchi, July 15: Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra celebrated its 71st Foundation Day on Tuesday at the institute’s CAT Hall. The event was hosted by Mrinal Pathak, Head of the Media Cell. Proceedings began with lamp lighting and the institute’s prayer at 10:30 AM. Prof. Shraddha Shivani, Dean of International Relations and an alumna, delivered the welcome address, followed by a short film showcasing the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Indranil Manna, in his speech, highlighted BIT Mesra’s legacy, stating it was one of only three post-independence institutions in India to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. He emphasized the institute’s commitment to academic excellence and alignment with UGC 2023 regulations.
Chief Guest Dr. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, Professor at IIT Kanpur and former Director of IIT Roorkee, IIT Mandi, and IIAS Shimla, praised BIT’s contribution to nation-building. Alumnus and industry leader Dr. Ganesh Natarajan motivated students to lead in emerging fields like AI, quoting Swami Vivekananda’s call to persevere until goals were achieved.
Several distinguished alumni were honored for their departmental achievements, and students from the Architecture Department received special awards. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Registrar Prof. Sudeep Das and the rendition of the national anthem at 1:05 PM.
