Ranchi: Two students from the Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, have secured hefty offers during the campus placement drive. Tech giant LinkedIn has recruited Kushagra Sahay and Ankit Kumar from the Computer Science and Engineering department as Software Development Engineers (SDE).

Kushagra bagged an annual package of ₹1.40 crore, while Ankit secured ₹1.09 crore package. Kushagra hails from Ranchi, and Ankit is a resident of Palamu (Daltonganj). The institute’s director, faculty members, and fellow students congratulated the duo on their monumental achievement, wishing them a bright future.

Strong Fundamentals and Continuous Practice Paved the Way for Kushagra

Reflecting on his journey, Kushagra Sahay shared that he collaborated with his seniors right from his first year to understand the nuances of placement preparation. He gained invaluable insights from alumni who had previously secured high-paying packages.

Kushagra joined the college coding club and worked on several technical projects. While mastering core computer science subjects, he prioritized practical knowledge. Notably, some of the projects he developed are still being utilized across various levels—a feat that gave him a major edge during his interviews.

“A strong foundation, regular practice, and the eagerness to learn new technologies are the ultimate keys to success,” Kushagra emphasized. His father, Manish, works with Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), while his mother, Smita Narayan, is a PGT teacher.

Passion for Coding Drives Ankit’s Multi-Million Package

For Ankit Kumar, a deep-seated passion for coding since his early student days laid the groundwork for his career. He consistently participated in competitive programming and thoroughly mastered data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and DBMS. He meticulously balanced his academic curriculum with industry requirements.

Ankit pointed out that top-tier companies look beyond degrees, specifically evaluating a candidate’s problem-solving capabilities and practical skills. He credited his success to the unwavering encouragement of his grandfather, Aniruddha Prasad, and the constant support of his family.

Ankit’s father, Ashwini Kumar, serves as a facility manager at the Palamu SP Office, while his mother, Bhavna Devi, is a homemaker.
