BIS Jamshedpur raids Koderma’s M/s Triveni Gold Pipe, seizes 36,570 fake ISI marked pipes

Jamshedpur, March 27: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jamshedpur Branch Office, conducted an enforcement raid on M/s Triveni Gold Pipe in Gujhandi, Koderma, for illegally using the ISI mark on its products without a valid BIS license.

Acting on credible information, Kunal Kumar, Director & Head of BIS, Jamshedpur, formed a dedicated team to investigate. The operation was led by Kaushelendra Kumar, Scientist-E, along with Dilip Chattar, Scientist-D, and Rohit Kumar, PS.

During the search, officials discovered that the firm was unlawfully marking its conduits for electrical installations with the ISI certification. A total of 36,570 pipes, each 3 meters long, were seized for violating BIS licensing norms.

Kaushelendra Kumar confirmed that the firm had breached Section 17 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. He further stated that under Section 29(3) of the Act, such offenses could lead to imprisonment for up to two years or a fine of at least ₹2 lakh, which may extend up to ten times the value of the seized goods.

BIS remains committed to ensuring the quality and safety of products sold in the market and will continue to take stringent action against any such violations of national standards.
