Jamshedpur : The police have arrested two out of six persons involved in the Birsanagar shooting incident in which a 36year-old man Suresh Gope was injured.
Kanchan Kumar and Pappu Gope, both residents of Moharda in Birsanagar were arrested by the police. The police have registered a case of attempted murder against six per- sons, including Pappu, Kanchan, Ramni Gope, Munna Gope and two others on the statement made by the victim Suresh.
Suresh was on Monday afternoon was attacked by a gang of six bike-borne youth and shot at near Vijaya Garden in Birsanagar. Though the attackers fired six shots, the victim was shot at and injured after being hit by only one bullet.
Police have recovered two empty cartridges from the place of occurrence. The police are trying to find out if the firing was triggered by more than one person. Revealing about the investigation into the firing incident, superintendent of police (city) Karthik S said that the shooting was in sequel to a dispute over a plot of land at Moharda.
Karthik said that Ramni Gope, Munna Gope and two of their associates have fled the city. He, however, said that the police are continuing the raids and claimed that the accused will be arrested soon. A resident of Morakati in Birsanagar, Suresh feared more attacks on himin future as the accused Ramni Gope is set upon to eliminate him for grabbing a plot of land at Moharda.
