Seraikela, April 12: A 22-year-old Sukhdev Mahato, a bike rider, resident of Janta village of Neemdih block, died on the spot after being hit by an unknown pick-up van in a road accident that occurred late Tuesday night near Chadri on the Seraikela-Kandra main road.
While a cyclist was seriously injured. The injured cyclist was taken to MGM Hospital via road ambulance for treatment.
According to the information received about the incident, Sukhdev Mahato, a resident of Neemdih block, had come to Seraikela on Tuesday for some work. While returning, both the bike rider and the cyclist fell while trying to save a cyclist who suddenly crossed the road near Chadri.
Meanwhile, the pickup van coming from behind ran over the bike rider and fled from the spot. After the incident, it was informed by the local people to the Kandra police station. After getting the information, the police of Kandra police station sent the injured cyclist to MGM and took the body of the deceased bike rider in their custody and sent it to Seraikela Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
