Jamshedpur: Two motorcycle-borne criminals looted cash worth Rs 3.25 lakh from a Kolkata-based couple near Voltas Building under Bistupur police station area on Saturday.
Sources said the incident took place around 4 pm when the accused persons intercepted Amarnath Mukherjee and pushed him from his scooter. They snatched his bag and decamped before the victim could raise an alarm.
Police said the victim, who was on his way to Jugsalai with his wife from Bistupur main branch of State Bank of India, had withdrawn the cash in the afternoon.
Mukherjee had kept Rs 20,000 in his pocket and put the remaining amount in his bag. The couple proceeded towards Jugsalai on a scooter. They were being reportedly chased by the snatchers, the couple told police.
Cops said they were trying to get lead into the incident with the help of CCTV footage obtained from various sources in Bistupur. The couple had come to meet a relative at Baridih.
