Jamshedpur, September 22: Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato met Union aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Airport Authority of India chairman Sanjeev Kumar in New Delhi on Friday to pave the way for the construction of Dhalbhumgarh Airport.
The MP said that for the construction of Dhalbhumgarh Airport, the Environment Assessment Committee (EAC), while taking a decision on 24.09.2020, had expressed its disagreement towards the construction of the airport at the above site and had suggested the selection of an alternative site. It was also said that regarding this proposal, consent can be taken from the Chief Wildlife Warden of the state. Due to the above decision, Jharkhand State Government decided to dissolve Dhalbhumgarh Airport Limited and sent a proposal in this regard to Airport Authority of India (AAI).
“ In view of the above decision and suggestion of the Environment Assessment Committee (EAC), a meeting was held on 08.05.2023 under the chairmanship of the chief secretary of Jharkhand for forest and environment approval of Dhalbhumgarh Airport Development Project. In this meeting, it was decided that the above site is most suitable for the construction of the airport and necessary steps will be taken for its development and clearance of environment and forest,” the MP apprised.
It was also decided that Chief Wildlife Warden for environmental clearance and DFO Jamshedpur for forest related matters would be contacted and coordinated.
These decisions have also been approved by Jharkhand chief minister Hemat Soren. In view of the above facts, the State Government has decided to withdraw the proposal for dissolution of Dhalbhumgarh Airport Limited from the Airport Authority of India (AAI).
MP Mahato demanded from Union Minister Scindia that after getting the full consent and approval of the state government, he would like to pave the way for the development of this airport at a rapid pace.
