Bhanumathi Neelakantan Awards presented to six women

Jamshedpur, Feb. 11: Like every year, Bhanumathi Neelakantan Awards were given away at a function organised by Bhanumathi Neelakantan Award and Aid Trust of Jamshedpur.

Six women including Ms. Padmawati Singh, Ms. Nachitra Mary Joseph, Ms. Sunita Murmu, Ms Ritu Kumari, Ms Aakali Murmu and Ms Sangeeta Devi were recognised for their rare accomplishments at the 22nd Bhanumathi Neelakantan Awards ceremony held at the DBMS School here on Saturday evening.

The awards were given in the following four categories � Physically Challenged, Outstanding Sports Woman, Outstanding Student and Social Worker. The awardees were given cash prizes and cheques, a certificate and prizes in kind.

Ghatsila MLA Laxman Tudu was the chie guest for the occasion. . He admired the efforts of NGO �Bhanumathi Neelakantan Awards� and also appreciated the efforts of Mrs. B. Neelakantan for her contribution to the society. He also motivated the awardees.

Chairman DBMS B Neelakantan in her speech motivated the awardees and the women of Jharkhand will be inspired by these awardees

B. Chandrashekhar, Treasurer of Bhanumathi Neelakatan Awards presented a Cheque of Rs. 10,000 each of the awardees.
Earlier, the programme began with Mrs. Prema Mohan, Vice-Principal, D. B. M. S. Kadma High School welcomes invitees. Prayer song was presented by D. B. M. S. Girls High School students. Welcome address was presented by Mrs. Kamala Subramanian, President, Bhanumathi Neelakantan Awards.

Mrs. Rajani Shekhar, Secretary, Bhanumathi Neelakantan Awards and Principal of D. B. M. S. English School gave information regarding the award selection. Students of D. B. M. S. Lilliput School presented flowers to the Chief Guest and the Awardees. Laxman Tudu presented the mementoes to the Awardees.

Mrs. B. Neelakantan, Chairperson of the Bhanumathi Neelakantan Awards presented the certificates to each of the awardees.

B. Chandrashekhar, treasurer of Bhanumathi Neelakatan Awards present a Cheque of Rs. 10,000 to each of the awardees.
3 Girls of D. B. M. S. Lilliput School who have just completed Matriculation from NIOS board and 7 Girls of the previous batches were given Rs. 3,000/- each for their further education.

Mrs. Lalitha Chandrashekhar a member of Bhanumathi Neelakanthan presented a memento to the Chief Guest.

The song – Hum Hongey Kamyab presented by D. B. M. S. Girls High School concluded the function.

Every year, nominations are invited from Educationists, Educational Administrators and institutions of repute engaged in educational, cultural and social welfare work.

No direct or self sponsored applications are accepted. The deserving candidates are then short listed after scrutinising the applications and the awards are finalised based on personal interviews with the candidates and their sponsors.
