Jamshedpur: Tata Steel sports department conducted the Inter Club employees’ badminton tournament at JRD Tata Sports Complex on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Teams from Beldih Club, United Club, Tube Makers Club, Golmuri Club and G Town Club participated in the tournament.
The contest began with paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi. Beldih Club A beat United Club A by 2 sets to 1 in the final to win the tournament. In the third place match United Club B defeated Beldih Club B by 2 sets to 1.
In the earlier matches, TMC A got walk over against Telco Club, United Club A beat G Town Club B by 2 sets to 0. In another match United Club B beat TMC B by 2 sets to 0. Beldih Club A beat G Town Club A by 2 sets to 0. Beldih Club A beat United Club B by 2 sets to 1 in semi final. United Club A beat Beldih Club B by 2 sets to 1 in semi final.
In the ladies singles match- Bijaya of United Club was crowned the winner and Prity of Beldih Club was the runners-up.
Vivek Sharma, P S Murthy, Ujjawal, Anish Mishra and Sara Sharma were the referees and officiated all the matches.
Ravi Radhakrishnan, Chief (Aviation Services & Sports) distributed the prizes to winners. Avinash Kumar, Sr. Manager Sports conducted the event with the support of Ajit Kumar Singh, B K Jena and R K Mishra.
