BCCI Lokayukta urged to adjourn JSCA election

Jamshedpur: Former members of Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) Sunil Singh and Jeetu Patel have written to Inspector General of registration department, Ranchi to adjourn the JSCA election scheduled on May 28 at JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi.

Mentioning about the 2013 JSCA election in the letter, Jeetu Patel and Sunil Singh wrote that a complaint letter was filed against the JSCA election in 2013. The investigation against the complaint is still ongoing and till the registration department gives its decision against the complaint filed, the election should be postponed.

Former Ranji player Jeetu Patel and former secretary of Ranji district cricket association Sunil Singh have also written it to AP Shah, Lokayukta of BCCI.

According to the letter, Jeetu and Sunil have demanded an independent investigating team to inspect the ongoing irregularities in the state cricket association and misuse of the by-laws. According to the letter, the duo has informed the Lokayukta that nepotism dominates while selecting members of JSCA. Jeetu Patel and Sunil Singh terming the election as illegal have demanded immediate postponing of the JSCA election.

Earlier, talking to the media, Sunil Singh said announcing election and annual general meeting without holding the management committee meeting is violation of the constitution. Singh also accused electoral officer Amrendra Kumar Singh of partiality.

“The ruling side members for their own convenience and to keep themselves safe made several amendments in the constitution and didn’t even bother to inform the registration department,” said Sunil Singh, adding, “The tmth is that there is lot of anguish among the members of the association against the unopposed elected officials.”

It may be noted that this is the second time when the JSCA election is being held one year before the schedule.

JSCA tenure is of four years, but election is being held every three years. Significantly, Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) will elect its new office bearers and members of the management committee for the 2016-20 session on May 28 at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.

The election will be held between 9 am to 12.30 pm and counting of votes will start from 2 pm on the same day. Results will be declared after votes are counted.
