Jamshedpur: The much-awaited programme of Basti Vikas Samiti titled ‘Garibon Sang Deepawali’ was organized at Jemco, Golmuri, Sakchi and Birsanagar on Tuesday on the occasion of Dhanteras. The outfit members distributed Deepawali gifts among 1200 families residing in these localities.
Addressing the event, Pawan Agrawal, representative of CM Raghubar Das, said Chief Minister Raghubar Das was trying to ensure the development of the state on the basis of the doctrine of Antyodaya. The CM is also trying to develop Jamshedpur East assembly constituency on the same lines, he said.
The outfit president Khemlal Choudhary said the purpose of the event was to share the joy of Deepawali with the poor and under-privileged childen. He said the poor families are being gifted diyas, sweets, oil and firecrackers.
The outfit patron Chandrashekhar Mishra and state Minority Commission vice president Gurdev Singh Raja also addressed the gathering. Among others present on the occasion included Kamlesh Singh, Ajay Singh, Dinesh Singh, Appa Rao, Mukesh Singh, Munna Agrawal, Shiv Shankar Singh, Mamata Kapoor and Ram Dulari Devi.
