Jamshedpur, April 3: Following strong protests by local residents, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) removed barricading near the Ram Laxman Hanuman Mandir on NH-33 in Mango. The prolonged barricading had been causing frequent accidents and had become a major safety concern. The issue was resolved after complaints from locals and the intervention of former BJP leader Vikas Singh.

The barricading was part of the ongoing construction of the elevated corridor from Asanbani to Danga on NH-33. However, it had severely inconvenienced residents, narrowing the road and creating potholes, which made travel hazardous. With the Ram Navami festival approaching, devotees also faced difficulties reaching the temple, fueling local frustration.

Concerned residents approached Vikas Singh, who immediately contacted NHAI officials and urged them to remove the barricading, citing safety risks and disruptions to public movement. He emphasized that while infrastructure development was essential, the current approach was flawed and was endangering lives.

Public Protest Leads to Action

Despite repeated requests, the barricading was not removed for two days. In response, local residents, led by Vikas Singh, halted work on the elevated corridor, forcing contractor representatives and NHAI officials to visit the site. Singh firmly stated that construction would not be allowed to continue until the barricading was removed and a proper crossing was established.

Yielding to public pressure, the authorities finally removed the barricading and began work on creating a crossing. Expressing their gratitude, the temple committee and local residents honoured Vikas Singh with a shawl, acknowledging his efforts in resolving the issue. They also emphasized how the removal of the barricading had provided much-needed relief to the public
