Jamshedpur, Sep 24: The Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited, Mumbai, Amritesh Srivastava, handed a model of nuclear power plant to the scientists of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Turamdih, on Saturday. It is the first model of the nuclear power plant to have reached Jharkhand. Through this model, children will learn about the technology used in electricity generation through nuclear energy, said officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Srivastava said nuclear power could be used to produce electricity without causing pollution. Nuclear power is safe, green and pollution free, he said, adding that it can be used for peace, electricity generation, health and agriculture. It is also used to treat cancer, he said.
The programme was also addressed by the officer in0charge of BARC, UCIL, Turamdih, BK Rana.
