Jamshedpur, Sep 16: On the instructions of Special Officer of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), raids are being conducted against the sale of banned tobacco products in and around Jamshedpur. JNAC flying squad on a tip-off, confiscated tobacco products worth Rs 5 lakh on Thursday. According to reports, tobacco products were being supplied in various locations of Jamshedpur via a bus. During the raid, flying squad seized 8 boxes of banned tobacco and tobacco products which is worth Rs 5 lakh. The state government has banned the sale of tobacco products till 2022 and Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee has been taking continuous action against the culprits.
Four big plastic sealed boxes were brought to the JNAC office in Sakchi, the tobacco products were later destroyed. A stern warning has been issued by JNAC which says that punitive action would be initiated against shop owners under relevant sections of Jharkhand Municipal Act. Special Officer informed that campaign against the sale of tobacco products will continue in Jamshedpur.
