Jamshedpur, May 20: Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta lodged a defamation case against Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy at the MP-MLA Court in Chaibasa, West Singhbhum, on Saturday. The case was filed in response to MLA Saryu Roy’s allegations of the minister possessing a prohibited pistol. Gupta claimed that these accusations were baseless and aimed at tarnishing his image and defaming his character without any evidence.
This marks the second defamation case filed by Minister Banna Gupta against MLA Saryu Roy. Previously, the minister had accused Saryu Rai of making false claims regarding the incentive amount. That case is currently pending in court. The latest defamation case was filed on behalf of Minister Banna Gupta by his senior advocate, Prakash Jha. Jha stated that the Health Minister’s statement was recorded before judicial officer Rishi Kumar along with the presentation of supporting facts. The court will now decide the subsequent course of action. It should be noted that MLA Saryu Rai had previously accused Minister Banna Gupta of possessing banned weapons. In response, Gupta has chosen the legal route to defend his reputation and address the unfounded allegations made against him.
