Jamshedpur: Congress MLA Banna Gupta today called off the day old fast-unto-death agitation after getting an assurance from administration and Tata Steel authorities about improvement in power supply in areas
like Mango, Sonari and Kadma within the next fortnight.
The MLA also got assurance to set up an electric crematorium near Fagu Baba locality in Sonari.
Adminstration led by ADM Ganesh Kumar and SDO Prem Ranjan along with Tata Steel deputy vice president, corporate services Sunil Bhaskaran assured to the legislator that power scenario would improve and steps would be taken for crematorium.
” The legislature has ended his agitation. We have assured the legislator to improve power supply in Mango, Sonari and Kadma within the next fortnight. Moreover, we have also asked Jusco to upgrade its
systems and strengthen its network in Sonari and Kadma so that residents get quality and uninterrupted power supply,” said SDO.
“Even we are keen to improve the power scenario. Steps are being taken Increased loads lead to intermittent power cuts. Apart from this there are several other constraints due to which we are unable to provide smooth supply in our command areas.
But, efforts have been initiated to overcome the problems and ensure that intermittent power-cuts and prolonged load sheddings is avoided, ” said an official.
Gupta, the Jamshedpur (West) MLA said that he was forced to start an agitation as often residents come up with complaints against power supply and other civic issues.
