Banna accuses Saryu of misleading public with baseless scam allegations

Jamshedpur, Nov 11: Banna Gupta, the INDI Alliance candidate for Jamshedpur West, has criticized Saryu Roy for repeatedly misleading the public with unfounded scam accusations. Speaking about Roy’s allegations in a press conference, Gupta called out the former Jamshedpur East MLA for calling minor expenses, such as the purchase of toffees worth Rs 4.4 lakh for the 17th Jharkhand Foundation Day, a scam. Roy had even written a book, Tijori ki Chori, where he labelled such expenditures as fraudulent.

Gupta pointed out that Rai’s allegations against the Jamshedpur flyover project were equally baseless. Initially, Roy had opposed the flyover, citing technical hurdles, but when the project moved forward, he called the estimates behind the Rs 461 crore project a scam. Gupta emphasized that projects of this scale are overseen by technical teams and are subject to a transparent global tender process, making it impossible for any corruption to occur at the local level.

Gupta also highlighted Roy’s role in delaying key infrastructure projects, such as the Ranchi drainage system, which was halted due to Roy’s allegations against the consulting firm, Manhart. This, according to Gupta, only hindered progress for the state.

Furthermore, Gupta criticized Roy for accusing government-owned companies like National Fertilizer Limited and Hindustan Lever of supplying fake fertilizers and seeds. He accused Roy of using scare tactics to create an atmosphere of fear among administrators, businesses, and the public, ultimately leading to blackmail.

Gupta concluded by stating that the people of Jamshedpur are well aware of Roy’s tactics and that his constant negativity and baseless accusations have lost their credibility.
