Jamshedpur, April 5: The district president of Hindu Jagran Manch, Hrishinath Shahdev nominated the district body of the organization. Balbir Mandal was made president of the district unit.
At a press meeting convened at the Tulsi Bhawan in Bistupur Shahdev said that a demand for introduction of Love Jehad Law in Jharkhand as implemented in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh has been made. He said that a demand for the same had recently been made to the Governor of Jharkhand. He stated that many Adivasi and Schedule Tribe girls in Santhal Pargana had been victims of Love Jehad. “The Governor has assured that appropriate steps will be taken in this matter. Meanwhile, the Hindu Jagran Manch has initiated a signature campaign for implementation of Love Jehad Prevention Law in Jharkhand.”
The district units of Hindu Jagran Manch were dissolved prior to the last Assembly polls in the state. The new district committees are gradually being formed again after the state polls. District committees in Giridih, Gumla and Simdega have been formed. After Jamshedpur, committees will be formed in Dhanbad and other districts. Hindu Jagran Manch state vice president Sujit Singh, state Yuva Vahini Pramukh Vikram Sharma and other officials were present along with Hrishinath Shahdev during the press meet.
