Jamshedpur: Hundreds of families of the 15 villages in six panchayats of Baharagora Assembly constituency were affected adversely in the incessant rain caused by the cyclone Phailin in the last few days.
Many houses were destroyed in the rainds. The MLA of Baharagora and senior Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Vidyut Varan Mahato said this on Tuesday during his meeting with the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal.
Mahato handed over a memorandum to the DC and alleged that the district administration had not made adequate arrangements to provide relief to the people affected by the natural calamity.
He said the administration should provide adequate compensation to the 500 families affected in the rainds and storm. He said the administration should make use of the relief fund meant for the victims of natural calamity.
He said the district administration should take immediate steps to make sure that the people get relief without fail and at the earliest.
The DC told the MLA that the administration would be sending a report on the recent crisis that hit the district. A list of people affected by the storm and rains is being prepared.
It will be sent to the state crisis control department. The DC said the administration was doing its level best to help the victims of flash floods and storm. He said the panchayat representatives and officials had been asked to contact the administration and inform it about the status of people hit by the natural calamity.
The villages affected in Baharagora include Bahulia, Gadha, Banadahi, Rangunia, Phulkudiya and Guhiapal.
