Babulal Marandi working on third front alliance possibility

Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Vikas Morcha president and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi seems to be trying hard to strike an alliance of political parties prior to the Assembly polls in the state on the lines of the Third Front.

Redoing the experiment of Lok Sabha elections, he is making efforts to bring regional parties closer to gain benefits in the polls to provide an alternative to BJP and Congress-JMM-RJD alliance to the people of the state.

Party insiders said the party believed in utilizing the potential of regional parties which may win a few seats in the Assembly elections. If such parties are brought together, the resulting alliance may turn out to be a force to reckon with, said a party source.

Poll pundits predict that Marandi may go with Jharkhand Party of Enos Ekka, Jai Bharat Samanata Party of former CM Madhu Koda and Naujawan Sangharsh Morcha of Bhanu Pratap Shahi in the polls. The alliance may take shape in the next few weeks as almost all parties have begun preparations for the polls.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has made it clear that Jharkhand Mukti Morcha will contest the polls with its current partners in the state government, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Congress.

A faction of Congress leaders want to ally with JVM. Now it is yet to be seen as to what decision is taken by the JVM president in the run up to the polls.
