Ranchi: Former Chief Minister and State BJP President, Babulal Marandi, have penned a letter to the Governor, expressing concerns over a potential constitutional crisis in Jharkhand. The letter addresses the recent resignation of MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed from the Gandey seat and the ensuing political developments in the state.
In the communication to the Governor, Marandi points out that the current political scenario, including the resignation of an MLA and speculation regarding Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s potential resignation, could lead to a constitutional crisis. The letter emphasizes the need for adherence to constitutional norms and expresses apprehensions about the possibility of a non-MLA being elected as the leader of the JMM legislature party and subsequently becoming the Chief Minister.
Marandi asserts that if such a scenario unfolds, where a non-MLA is nominated as the Chief Minister, it would be deemed unconstitutional and illegal. He warns that any attempt to claim the Chief Minister’s position without the required legislative background could result in a significant constitutional crisis for the state of Jharkhand.
