Jamshedpur, March 18: A batch of 35 B.Ed students of Karim City College, Jamshedpur, accompanied by four teachers Mrs. Jaya Das, Mrs. Sheetal Pandey, Dr. Suchita Bhuyan and Ritu Raj Tigga visited CSIR-NML, and interacted with the scientists and research scholars this morning under the aegis of NML- students interactive programme (SNIP) in collaboration with NASI, Jharkhand Chapter. The students were thrilled to visit the laboratory and interact with the working scientists and research scholars.
The programme was scheduled for three hours, which comprised of an overview of Indian Science and Technology, Documentary film on CSIR as well as on NML respectively. Dr. P.N.Mishra Principal Scientist briefed about the programme and gave an overview of CSIR contributions in different branches of Science & Technology.
He defined Science, Science & Technology, development of science & technology in Indian perspectives and significance of natural resources define ores, minerals, and rocks While Dr.Arvind Sinha, Chairman, Jharkhand State Chapter of NSAI and Head, IMDC discussed the relevance of the visit of a scientific institution by the future teachers of the nation. He motivated the students and urge them to inculcate scientific tempers among the students that they come across as teachers in near future.
The students expressed their excitement and happiness over the laboratory visit as well as interaction with the scientists and research scholars. In fact, they were thrilled while visiting the labs and looking at the practical set- ups. Mrs.Saba Khan said, “I came to know about new things here like India�s first Super computer PARAM designed by CSIR in 1986, Swaraj Tractor used in farming based on CSIR technology, the importance of patent and its impact, which I barely knew earlier. It was a wonderful experience rejuvenating my thought process”.
The students were delighted to know about the latest technologies displayed at museum pertaining to extraction of lean grade ore through the column flotation technology. Students and teachers were impressed and astonished to know about the Tata Steel and NML jointly collaborated technology in the area of metal protection and conservation. A group of students and teachers were further visited at the Asia�s second largest creep testing lab, recycling lab and minutely observed the scientific activities.
Most of the students said that the interaction was very informative and brought a lot of motivation. Teachers and many students requested for their next visit to the lab for a deeper knowledge.
All the teachers expressed their view and were satisfied to know about the consistent efforts of CSIR- NML towards research emphasis in various sectors for the development of India.
